The Wonder Hospital
The Wonder Hospital is a short animated film about a surreal, mirage-like journey through a bizarre hospital that exists through a young girl’s vanity and unconscious ideas—or perhaps her imagination—about beauty. The hospital reinforces the notion of beauty that the girl has unconsciously come to believe in through the media, using the familiar “before” and “after” images often seen in plastic surgery advertisements, and promises to help her achieve it. Yet the result comes about in a completely unexpected—and deeply ironic—way.
