The Times of Kollywood is a coming-of-age comedy-drama and a love letter to Tamil cinema. The story follows 17-year-old Madhavan Gurusamy, an aspiring filmmaker and passionate Kollywood cinephile, who desperately wants his disciplined classmate Bala Murugan to experience the excitement of a first-day-first-show (FDFS) celebration for Vikram. When Madhavan promises Bala’s strict family that they can trust his choice of film, an innocent mistake involving a wrongly downloaded file leads to an embarrassing disaster. Determined to make things right, Madhavan earns back their trust and eventually brings Bala to the theatre.
