The Locker Room
The changing room of thirteen-year-old Martin’s Danish soccer club is a world in itself. They practice three times a week, so the boys know each other thoroughly. As always, the older boys dominate the younger ones. They sometimes badger each other, they act tough about a lovebite, but they are less noisy when a blister has to be treated. While taking a shower, one of the boys’ towels is snatched away, but the next moment they are sharing each other’s hair gel again. Briefly, the director leaves the locker room and films the match, with the screen being divided into four squares, so that a lot seems to happen at once. Back in the safe changing room, disappointment is written all over the faces. ‘What a terrible match.’
